Other than my family, music is my very favorite thing in this world. I love to listen to it, sing it and play it on the piano. I have a broad taste in music, enjoying everything from classical to heavy metal – my playlists would have most people scratching their heads. There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t listen to it. My 80’s pop playlist is my favorite to clean house to, while I find hard rock and alternative help me push hard when I’m working out. Certain songs bring back memories like no time has passed and others express how I am feeling at the moment. I love music.
Growing up here in Big Bear, I was involved in school chorus, show choir, production choir and madrigals. We sang for the school, our families, the community, and even competed down the hill on occasion. From 2nd grade to High School Graduation, I was singing. During my adult years, my husband and I have enjoyed many concerts and if I had the time, I would do karaoke every night. 🙂
I also love the theater. In 4th grade, I landed the role of Mary Poppins in the play of the same name. From that moment on, I had the bug. For the next 8 years, I was in every play the schools performed. Sometimes big roles, sometimes small, but always involved. I also had the chance to see a few Broadway shows down in Los Angeles, including Annie and Les Miserables – which was, by the way, amazing!
These days I do more listening and watching than actual performing. Did you know that Big Bear offers some amazing musical and theatrical events? This summer is filled with several opportunities to reminisce to music of the 60’s & 70’s, rock out to 80’s hits, and clap your hands & stomp your feet while enjoying Oklahoma! on stage.
Music and the theater are great ways to escape life’s bumps and celebrate the triumphs. They can make you laugh, make you cry and make you think. My life is so much richer because of them and I hope that you enjoy them as well. Come on up and see what Big Bear has to offer. Visit RSVacations.net and start planning your mountain getaway. Stay tuned to the blog this week where I will highlight some of the many music and theatrical events going on this summer in beautiful Big Bear Lake.
