Kenny Cliff joined RS Vacations November 1, 2010 as Property Manager. His vast experience in hospitality management includes training under the finest chefs in the country, as well as managing several 5-star restaurants in California. Kenny was awarded a scholarship in Hotel Management from the University of Nevada in Las Vegas. Since 2004, Kenny has been actively involved in managing rental properties throughout the Big Bear Valley. He enjoys a great rapport with his clients, guests, colleagues and vendors, which is key in property management.
Bob Oedekerk joined RS Vacations in April 2014. Bob’s Grandfather built a cabin here in Big Bear 40 years ago and Bob has been coming here ever since. He recently made the move to become a full-time resident and is now living in that very same family cabin and enjoying everything Big Bear has to offer. Bob brings with him many years of property management experience as well as a love for our community.
Laurel Malcolm joined the RS Vacations family in September 2012. She is our blog administrator and author, social media and internet marketing specialist and provides customer service to our guests and homeowners. Laurel brings with her many years of customer service, blog, internet marketing and graphic design experience. She has lived in Big Bear for 36 years and loves to promote our beautiful Valley.

Fair Commission Split with NO hidden fees
It’s your home we are renting and you are the one paying the mortgage, the utilities, insurance, as well as the upkeep. We offer a competitive commission split plus incentives to new owners joining our program. It is important to us that we do not nickel and dime our owners. Unlike other local companies, we do NOT charge any additional fees (such as a management or booking fee), and we do not generally charge you for things like light bulbs or battery replacement. In addition, we provide hotel quality shampoos, lotions, soaps, paper goods, trash bags, and dishwashing soaps for your guests. We have experience on our side and know what works to make a successful business and provide SERVICE to our homeowners and their guests.
Effective Advertising Exposure
The Internet has become the marketing tool of choice by the public and that’s where we want to target most of our advertising dollars. We have partnered with our very successful reservation software company to continually increase our search engine hits and keep our company competitive. In addition to this, we have a very active blog, Facebook, and twitter accounts which our owners and guests love, as well as targeted seasonal Google Ads. We also have a good working relationship with the Big Bear Lake Resort Association who actively promotes our website and homes, and we advertise your property on websites such as Airbnb, VRBO/HomeAway, VacayHero, Booking.com, FlipKey/TripAdvisor and more.
On our website, each of our properties has an individual webpage containing numerous professional pictures, detailed description, a real time calendar, guest reviews, and an online booking service. We do also offer a toll free number and info emails to handle any questions and bookings that come our way. Emails and phone calls are answered quickly to convert more of your inquiries into bookings.
Manageable Inventory of Premier Homes
We want to provide quality homes and keep our inventory manageable and diverse so that we rent out your home as many days a year as possible and so that we can provide the maintenance and service that keeps your home renter ready at all times. With our company, your home will not get lost in the shuffle. We are selective in the homes that represent RS Vacations and choose homes that are clean,well-kept and have amenities that guests are looking for. A home that is welcoming, clean, updated, and comfortable with choice amenities rents out more frequently. Location, location, location is also important to consider in how many days a house rents out during the year.
Communication with Your Guests
We want to offer the personal touch to your renters. We talk to or correspond with your guests long before they step foot in your door, and have emailed out a rental agreement, check in and checkout procedures and expected behavior. Kenny will be your guests contact during their stay and he is available by phone or text during the length of their stay. They also contact him prior to arrival so he can relay any road closures or restrictions, and they are instructed to contact him when they are departing so that he can reinforce departure procedures and ask them about their stay. All of these steps help to make your guests feel welcome and listened to, as well as accountable to RS Vacations.

In-House Maintenance by BigBear CabinCare
We opened up BBCC several years ago as we saw the need to assist second home owners with their property maintenance needs. We offer quality housecleaning, snow removal, home checks, open/closes and wait service, repairs, weed abatement, carpet and window cleaning, painting and construction, etc. Bob’s construction experience makes him a natural to personally handle the bidding and supervision of work. During the past several years our business has flourished and also during that time we have had numerous requests to manage homes for our clients. We also have provided maintenance for homeowners who are owner/managers. This is a great foundation that has made us very capable of handling the opening of RS Vacations. BBCC is also fully bonded and insured. When maintenance issues arise, we always strive to consult with owners, but guest comfort, safety and convenience must always come first. The management agreement authorizes RS Vacations/BigBear CabinCare to expend up to $200.00 without prior consultation with the owners. In an emergency situation, repairs may exceed $200.00 without prior authorization.
Quality Tradesmen as Needed
There are some repairs or work that requires a licensed tradesman, and we have developed a working relationship with quality tradespeople when their expertise is needed. Again, they have worked on our homes and numerous other BBCC jobs, and have proven themselves to be service minded.
