23rd Annual Holcomb Valley Trail Run

Jun 15, 2019 | 07:00AM – 03:00PM

Starting at the water’s edge of Big Bear Lake, the Holcomb Valley Trail Run brings runners deep into the heart of the most scenic area in Big Bear, Holcomb Valley. Breathtaking views of the San Gorgonio Wilderness Area, Big Bear Lake, and the surrounding valley can be seen from the miles of single track running along the Pacific Crest Trail.  The Holcomb Valley Trail Run offers three separate distances: a 33-mile race, a 15-mile race, and a 7-mile race. Sections of the Pacific Crest Trail are part of each race course. This is some of the best trail running in Southern California; so sign up early, the race has sold out the past 5 years.

Now in it’s 23rd year, the Holcomb Valley Trail Run was established by Gary & Pam Kalina in 1997. Gary was an avid runner; he realized that some of the best trail running in Southern California was right here in Big Bear. Their involvement is crucial to the success of the event. Gary and Pam had decided after 15 years of event directing and coordination it was time to close that chapter in their life. Team Big Bear now runs the event in their honor.

“Rumours” Fleetwood Mac Tribute at the Cave

Jun 09, 2017 | 06:30PM – 11:30PM

The group was formed in the Summer of 2012 and not too long after, word got around. They were set up to play on AXS TV’s “World’s Greatest Tribute Bands”. Rumours recreates the band’s legendary persona, in all its youthful glory from 1975-1987.

The band is comprised of vocalist/artist/actor Jesika Miller, vocalist/film maker/photographer Rebecca Fishman, drummer Ned Brower (Rooney, Mike Viola), guitarist/producer/engineer Taylor Locke (Rooney, Taylor Locke and the Roughs, The Great Indoors), and bassist/producer/engineer Nic Johns (ROOM8, Ben Lee, Margaret Cho.)

Rumours has meticulously put together a show that spares no detail. From period accurate equipment and costumes to spot on characterizations and musical performances, Rumours takes you back to a time when music was still an unbridled cultural experience and bands weren’t afraid to put on a show.

Relive the rock and roll magic with Rumours.

21st Annual Holcomb Valley Trail Run

Jun 11, 2017 | 07:00AM – 03:00PM

Now in it’s 21st year, the Holcomb Valley Trail Run was established by Gary & Pam Kalina in 1997. Gary was an avid runner; he realized that some of the best trail running in Southern California was right here in Big Bear. Their involvement is crucial to the success of the event. Gary and Pam had decided after 15 years of event directing and coordination it was time to close that chapter in their life. Team Big Bear now runs the event in their honor

The 15th Annual Xeriscape Garden Tour

Jul 15, 2017 | 09:00AM – 04:00PM

The 2016/2017 winter season has seen above average snow and rainfall, compared to years in the recent past. Does this mean the drought is over? Maybe for some parts of California, but not for Big Bear Valley.

The 15th Annual Big Bear Valley Xeriscape Garden Tour, put on by the Sierra Club Big Bear Group, is the perfect opportunity to get landscaping ideas, discover drought tolerant plants and learn how to save money on your water bill, all while creating a beautiful drought-tolerant garden. As an added bonus, one of the homes will feature a landscape that is both low-water use and fire-wise.

This year’s theme, “Water Conservation…A Big Bear Way of Life,” will focus on Big Bear’s unique water situation and how everyone can do their part to conserve water while still creating beautiful and exciting yards and gardens.

The tour will once again include the DWP’s Xeriscape Demonstration Garden on Fox Farm Road, in front of the Community Garden, with native plant expert Orchid Black on hand to answer questions. In addition, there will be a variety of homeowner gardens, some landscaped by professionals and others by the homeowners. No matter your budget, you’ll find solutions for creating low-maintenance, drought tolerant gardens right here in Big Bear Valley.

So mark your calendars for the 15th annual Xeriscape Garden Tour to take place on Saturday, July 15th. Participants can begin the FREE self-guided tour anytime between 9 am and noon starting at Eminger’s Mountain Nursery, located at 41223 Big Bear Blvd. in Big Bear Lake, across the street from the Denny’s Restaurant.  A tour booklet, which includes the locations and directions for the tour stops, and helpful information on Xeriscape gardening in the mountains, will be handed out at the starting location. Mountaintop Trail Rally at Snow Summit to Benefit Big Bear Trails

Jul 30, 2017 | 08:00AM – 04:00PM

In short, Big Bear’s Mountaintop Trail Rally is just what it says it is- a gathering… for trail users… on the top of a mountain… and we want you there. Equal parts race and leisure, MTR is much more than getting out on trails. It’s a celebration of our beautiful trail system in Big Bear and what all trail stakeholders (which includes the community) have accomplished improving it throughout the years.

What’s more, all proceeds directly benefit Big Bear’s trail system, so we’ll have more to celebrate next year. Presented by Team Big Bear, and through the strong partnership between the Southern California Mountains Foundation and the Big Bear Valley Trails Foundation, the Mountaintop Trail Rally aims to unite the widest range of trail users in a single place through a competitive mountain bike race, non-competitive mountain bike ride, trail run, and hike. In other words, any way you enjoy the trails up here using muscle power you will love participating in this event!

The event will be held at Snow Summit and all entry fees include Sky Chair rides at the resort and lunch at their Skyline Taproom on top of their resort, or at the Big Horn Blues BBQ at the base of the resort.

Sky Chair lifts open at 8:30 am for this event, so start early for cooler temps.

Wynona Judd and the Big Noise at the Cave

Jun 18, 2016 | 06:30PM – 11:00PM

A certain musical and spiritual condition defines Wynonna Judd’s first album with her band The Big Noise — not to mention the first album of original material in 13 years from one of country music’s supreme redheads. That quality is joy. It dominates, not just because Judd is performing with a small group led by her husband, the drummer and producer Cactus Moser, letting loose on songs she hand-selected because she liked them rather than out of concern for padding her remarkable roster of hits. Wynonna & The Big Noise lays bare the joy that is Judd’s most potent gift as a vocalist.

The Cave is a new, intimate music venue in Big Bear that promises to bring you up close and personal with its performers. Doors open at 6:30 pm and concert starts at 7:30 pm, Please call or visit website for ticket information.
