cautionSnow Showers have continued on and off throughout the day in Big Bear, but have been light with little to no additional accumulation on the Valley floor. Snow is expected to continue overnight with several inches of new snow.

As far as road conditions, all roads leading into and around the Big Bear Valley are currently open with NO chain restrictions at this time. Please remember that there will be icy spots – drive slowly and with caution.

Road and Weather conditions can change rapidly. Always carry chains and be prepared for emergencies.

cautionGood morning! We have received several inches of snow overnight and it is still snowing steadily here in Big Bear Lake. We are still expecting quite a bit more of the white stuff and while that is great news, it does make the roads hazardous!

ALTERNATE ROUTES TO AND FROM BIG BEAR ARE SUGGESTED DURING THIS STORM

Highway 330 (Running Springs to Highland)
Open – Chains Required – R2

Caltrans Chain Control Requirement Levels:

R-0: No Restrictions
R-1: Chains or snow tread tires required. Snow tires must have a tread depth of 6/32″ with an M&S imprint on the tire’s sidewall.
R-2: Chains required on all vehicles, except four-wheel drives or all-wheel drives with snow tread tires on all four wheels. Four-wheel drives must carry chains in the vehicle. If you have four-wheel drive, engage it. Use 4-Low only if your vehicle becomes stuck.
R-3: Chains required on all vehicles, no exceptions.

IT’S THE LAW: Carry tire chains at all times during winter travel in the mountains!

cautionIt looks as if winter may finally be arriving here in Big Bear. It has been raining throughout the day, however temps are dropping and it is starting to turn to a wet snow (4:15 PM). We will try to keep you updated as conditions change.

Highway 18 is closed from Running Springs to Big Bear due to rock slides and will remain closed throughout the night. You will need to use Highway 38 through Redlands or Highway 18 through Lucerne Valley. Please drive carefully and carry chains!
