“Metalachi” at the CAVE

Feb 11, 2017 | 06:30PM – 10:00PM

On a hot, hot summer night in Veracruz Mexico circa 1982, Consuela Espinoza stumbled out of her dilapidated shanty and into Rock N Roll history. What began as an innocent night of snorting horse tranquilizers in a hotel room with seven members of the village jai alai team went on to produce the greatest metal band to ever live. Unhampered by a steady regime of tequila and ill advised sumo lessons, nine months later five bastard children where born. Unable to care for her hungry offspring and concerned that motherhood would seriously interfere with her Tuesday night Karaoke league, Consuela hastily packed the babies into the saddlebags of a burro and sent her children off to America in search of a better life.

Against all odds, 14 years later, and nearly dead from dehydration, the burro knelt down to drink from the stagnant waters of the Rio Grande just outside of Juarez Mexico –mere yards from the U.S. border. With one fleeting burst of energy the brothers Espinoza cinco climbed from their leather restraints and scampered the vast reach of the river, collapsing onto the sweet amber hue of American soil. As if by destiny, lodged in the sand beneath their tanned faces was a record sleeve upon which were the words “PARANOID” and “BLACK SABBATH”. For many years to follow, this definitive black metal album served not only as a teacher and a mentor..but also as a friend. From these bleak and humble begins grew the seed that would eventually be the band we know today. Often referred to as the greatest heavy metal band to ever live..always referred to as…METALACHI.

Romantic BedIt’s that time of the year again. No boys, not Superbowl Sunday…..Valentine’s Day! Have you been giving your special someone the same old thing year after year? Flowers? Chocolates? A stuffed bear with a heart on the tummy? If the answer is yes then you need to step up your game, my friend. We here at RS Vacations Big Bear can help you make this Valentine’s Day one that she (or he) will never forget.

Some people think that this is a silly holiday created to sell cards, chocolate and flowers. I actually think it is important to celebrate romance. Our lives are so filled with work, stress, kids and activities that we don’t have time to give our all to our significant other very often. We need to remember that ‘spark’ that we had for one another way back at the beginning and rekindle it every so often.

The best way to do this, in my opinion, is to do spontaneous things like the ones that you did when you were dating. How about a helicopter tour over a beautiful mountain resort? A zipline ride through towering pines? A segway tour through a quaint village? Skiing or snowboarding on fresh powder? A couple’s massage? Later, a candlelit dinner. A romantic soak in an inviting spa. Snuggling in front of a roaring fire. All of these things are waiting for you in Big Bear.

Because Valentine’s Day falls mid-week this year, there are some amazing deals on all kinds of activities here in Big Bear designed just for couples. And RS Vacations has great mid-week pricing on all of our cabins. This is the perfect time to surprise your sweetheart with a romantic mountain getaway! Recapture the spark!

Be sure to visit www.RSVacations.net today to book one of our beautiful cabins. Surprise the one you love and make memories to last a lifetime! She (or he) will never forget it!

Maybe you want to experience the snow without all the work? Then tubing is where it’s at. We have two snow play resorts that feature ‘magic carpets’ to get you up the hill so that you can spend more time enjoying getting down. Race your family members down one of the longest runs in Southern California.

How about seeing Big Bear from a different perspective? Take a Helicopter tour of the snow-covered Valley, a Segway tour through town or a Jeep Tour into the forest that finishes with an exhilarating zip-lining experience through the treetops.

We also have, ice skating, horseback riding, bowling, laser tag, movie theaters, spas, a museum, a zoo and so much more. There are restaurants and bars for every taste, live music, and the Village is packed full of charming shops. We really do have it all!

If you are lucky enough to spend the Holidays with us, you can take part in Santa’s Grand Entrance and Village Tree Lighting Ceremony, Christmas in the Village, the New Year’s Eve Torchlight Parade or New Year’s Eve parties at Bear Mountain, Snow Summit or several other places in the Valley.

cedarfrontwinterAfter you’ve spent the day experiencing all of the action Big Bear has to offer, you’ll want to wind down in a cozy cabin, with a roaring fire, a soak in the spa and maybe a friendly game of pool, foosball or air hockey. Out Of The Box is an invite only resort competition taking place over the 2015-2016 winter season. Four resorts will receive identical containers full of raw materials to create, destroy and modify as they see fit- the goal being to design the most fun, most imaginative, most photo-friendly snow park possible. Bear Mountain’s creations will be unveiled and opened to the public initiating the second phase of the competition.

Resort guests are invited to compete in the Best #GoPro INSTAGRAM contest. Guests from each resort will capture and share GoPro photos on Instagram using #GoProPark, #GoPro and #BearBuilt.

One winner will be chosen from each resort. Winners will receive $1,000.00 and Next Year’s Season Pass.

The resorts themselves will be competing in the Best Overall Activation and the Best GoPro Resort Video contests.
